How to check for HTML errors
It is a good idea to put this code somewhere in the page header or footer:

 <<p>>
    <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check/referer">
      <img border=0
           src="http://validator.w3.org/images/vh40"
           alt="Valid HTML 4.0!" height=31 width=88>
    <</a>>
 <</p>>

Then, just click on the icon to have the validator check the page you're currently on. (Putting it in the header or footer means it's available on every page. Needs your browser to support the referer header.)
