More problems with charset - utf-8 |
| I made some comments in Some contributors have their browser defaults set to utf-8 now. When reading the pages of the faqomatic in question, I've arranged to send the pages out with the appropriate charset. Unfortunately I now realise that the pages for *submitting* new material are sent out without their coding explicitly specified, and as a result, the users are sending-in utf-8 coding, which for accented letters and other such characters is then showing garbage in the resulting text. Although you'd obviously not want to hard-code the character coding into the faqomatic, it doesn't seem to me to make sense to allow users to submit a mixture of 8-bit codings into the same faqomatic. I'd suggest that a specific 8-bit coding should be configured into each faqomatic, and used consistently whenever pages are sent out. Can I help with this (with appropriate advice from others who know their way around the code)?
