Attachements and Extensions |
At this time I can attach an image to an answer. In fact I can attach any file-document. However, the software is designed to show an attachment as an image. I suggest to have a table mapping file extensions to link icons, and maybe to possible actions (if the document is a script).

The answer answers. It’s truism. How about a category? It’s more general form of an answer. What a category can do more? Or what other categories types could be besides an answer? I suggest to have Extensions. Extension is a special form of attachment of some Perl function responsible for some functionality in context of the category. Extensions could be deployed through some secured way (manually or through upload?), registered in the list (tree?) of extensions and available to be attached (assigned) to a category in order to apply new specific functionality to a category.

At least one Extension could be useful: Subscription - you assign list of users in order to subscribe them for a daily digest about the category changes.
|
Some possible Extensions could be related to groupware automation: request for change or task assignment. More clearly it could be designed after we have general extensions as deployed perl functions attached to categories.
