Faq-O-Matic Faq-O-Matic : Administrators' Guide : Suggestions :
I'd like to see the Header/Footer functions
I'd like to see the Header/Footer functions (their great by the way!!) be expanded to allow an administrator to specify an include file as the header and footer. This would allow for greater flexibility in providing the Organizations own "look and feel". This might go along with a check-box that says "strip the

" and other associated header oriented tags. I second the motion for an Email interface. This would be great to be able to forward email that contains technical nuggets to some holding pen on the FOM, which then can be sifted/filtered, and pushed into cat/subcats. I also second the numbering scheme "1.1, 1.2, 2.1, etc...". This would make it easy for me as an admin to say to the users, "Go see FAQ 1.1 for the answer." The roll-back to previous versions via a web interface would absolutely rock. This would be a quantum leap forward in maintaining and managing a FAQ, and also alleviating worry about an answer being accidently blown away, and trying to restore it manually... I'd also like to be able to change the color of the command bar on the bottom, independently of the "regular part". The ability to filter the Q and A's through an external program like "ispell" would be awesome...as most of our admins tend to be dislexic (err...SP?). All in All...FOM basically rules! I'm really impressed with it, and what one can do with it. Jon...You're doing an awesome job and we love it!

If I'm understanding correctly what you want to do with headers/footers and images, it can already be done. For example, here's the header code for the Zope site I'm developing:

Home [] User-to-User [] Links [] The Vault [] The Cutting Edge [] Search Links & Forums

It's basically our site logo plus some navigation links. Works fine in a FOM header.
