HTML Links on invalid HTML code

When documenting commands and the syntax is close to HTML you get unwanted and
invalid links.

For Example:

1)  < text as a single word> is  <text> 

2)  cp [-f] [-h] [-i] [-i] <source_file>  <target file>

A nice addition would be an easy way to avoid this small problem.
