(newbie problem) Server Error 500
This is probably something only a rank newbie with Linux, Apache, and Faq-O-Matic all at once would have trouble with. Describes me to a T, though.
I encountered this after setting up the FOM on an in-home server, to play around with. Config went ok, testing on that browser session was ok, but all pages showed "Error 500 Server Internal Error" (or words to that effect) when I attempted to start a new session to access the new FOM.
It's really a webserver issue (I think) --- the "fom-serve" directory (the one with item, cache, and bag directories) should be a subdirectory of the html directory, not of the cgi-bin one. Once I'd stared at various pages, and figured out that this directory contained html, this was obvious. It's probably instantly obvious to anyone who has set up a server before. Maybe not obvious to newcomers; somehow I managed initially to get the notion that it should be off the same directory branch as "fom-meta", in cgi-bin.
Probably says something good about Linux (RH 7.1) and FOM, that a webserver can be set up at all by a novice.
